Tabriz Airport Notes a 39% Increase in Flights

Tabriz Airport reported the figures for the first half of the Iranian calendar year, 1395.

The airports’ director for the Azerbaijan Province, Mostafa Safaei, announced Tabriz International Airport’s figures for the first half of the year 1395 (20 March – 22 September 2016).

Around 7,615 flights were performed, of which 6,594 were domestical flights. The domestic flights noted an increase of 50% from 4,404 flights the year before and the passenger numbers rose by 204,054 to 810,897, an increase of 34%.

In the freight division, Tabriz International Airport handled 5,181 tonnes of cargo, observing an increase of 42%

In total, the number of flights increased by 39% and the number of passengers increased by 27%.

Currently, Tabriz is connected to the major Iranian cities such as Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan, Ahvaz, Asalouyeh, Kish Island, Bandar Abbas and Kerman. In addition, international flights to Istanbul, Baku, Baghdad and Najaf are operated on a daily basis.
