The Society of Iranian Airlines’ (AIRA) secretary, Maqsoud Asadi Samani announced that they have agreed together with the Ministry of Roads and Urban Developments, to permit 6 new airlines and 2 new helicopter airlines as per their applications.
From today, the 8 new companies have a time of 6 months to prepare and secure the required capital ahead of the operation launch. Ultimately, the airlines must have presented a qualified fleet of leastwise 5 aircraft, IRR 350m of initial capital required for the establishment along with other operational necessities.
Iran currently has some 15 domestic passenger airlines, a number which could increase to approximately 23 if all the planned new airlines start their operations.
