Today, the director of Tehran Imam Khomeini’s Airport City (IKAC) project welcomed his counterpart from Seoul Incheon Airport. Two memoranda of understandings (MoU) will be signed tomorrow on 3 May 2016.
The MoUs are concerning an exchange of experience and cooperation between the two airports. The focus is mostly put on investments, constructions as well as implementation and management of Tehran’s Airport City. Seoul Incheon Airport is with its 120 million annual passengers rated as the world’s best international transit airport according to Skytrax.
Last year, The Netherlands Airport Consultant Company (NACO) was awarded a five-year contract to consult in the first phase of the $2,8 billion development of the new Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport City.
The first phase includes the construction of the Iranshahr and Salam terminals which will help the airport to handle up to 30 million annual passengers. Last year, a MoU was signed with France’s VINCI regarding an investment in the Iranshahr terminal. The airport city is planned to be located on an area of 130 hectares and will accordingly become a free trade zone.
Two weeks after signature of MoUs, an executive team from Seoul will travel to Tehran and plan the agreement details.
