Iran is set for the most busiest period during the year in terms of air traffic, the Iranian New Year, also called Nouroz. From 15th March to 3rd April 2015 19,500 flights will be carried out hence 6000 of them to international destinations.
The Nouroz flights are planned in details by Iran’s Civil Aviation Organziation, with meetings with airlines both before and after the period. All Iranian airlines must apply for Nouroz flights and this year the operated flights are predicted to be increased by 13 to 14%.
Mahan Air is in the spotlight this year, just like the other years when it comes to special Nouroz flights. Mahan Air can as the only Iranian airline offer signifiacntly more long-haul Nouroz flights thanks to its more freer capacity. This year the airline is set to introduce flights to Vietnam. Normally, the airline is planning to offer special flights from Tehran to Mauritius, Goa, Sochi, Varna, Isparta, Izmir, Konya, Maldives and Colombo. Qeshm Air is also resuming flights from Tehran to Bangkok and Cyprus, as well as adding new flights to Croatia and Serbia.
Limitless Airways will launch flights on behalf of an unknown charter company from Tehran to Dubrovnik. The Turkey based airlines Turkish Airlines, Atlasjet, Pegasus Airlines and Corendon are also set to offer additional flights from Adana, Istanbul and Izmir to Iran. Other Iranian airlines such as Iran Air Tours, Zagros Airlines, Caspian Airlines and Taban Air normally fly a few times per week from Tehran to several Turkish destinations during the Nouroz period.
