Taban Air is on 23 February 2016 launching flights from the Iranian capital Tehran to the important trade hub in Astrakhan. This comes after Iran and Russia signed an agreement opening the way for unlimited airline to operate 28 weekly flights in total. Astrakhan has about half a million population and is an important tradehub due to the city’s port.
Rasht is also planned to get a connection to Astrakhan.
The flights will depart Tehran on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:00 and return from Astrakhan at 13:30. The operating aircraft is MD-88 with capacity for 160 passengers.
This service is planned to run until the end of August 2016. Taban Air has previously operated Moscow and St. Petersburg seasonally. This time the focus was placed on an undiscovered oppertunity, Astrakhan.
