Taban Air launched flights to Delhi last week, operating once a week with B757 or A310. The B757 is Iran’s sole of the aircraft type, and originally leased from Tajik Air. At the moment Mahan Air is the only Iranian airline operating Delhi with two weekly flights, being increased to three weekly as of 6 February 2016. Iran Air also operates India, but to Mumbai using B747.
The flight departs once a week on Thursdays from Tehran in the early morning heading to Delhi. After roughly two hours in Delhi the flight returns back to Tehran.
The relations between Iran and India are seen as good, both of the countries are now in rush to invest in each other’s countries in the post-sanctions era. However, there are some difficulties as both Iranian and Indians are required a visa in advance for visits.
