The oldest airport in Iran’s Ardabil province, Parsabad, is to become operative again. The airport is situated in the north west of Iran and a few kilometres from the Azerbaijan border. The local airport with room for two small ATR72s on its apron has been inactive for a very long time. But now they are ready to receive flights and passengers on the newly renovated runway and terminal. The airport management expects to open the airport in the first half of the new year (March – September 2016), Tasnim says.
Parsabad is the second largest town in the Ardabil provice, and the airport director expressed that the population is in need of an active airport.
