Iran Air Starts new Cargo Route to Qatar

Iran Air, the national carrier of Iran, is exploring new oppertunities on somewhat unexplored oppertunities. The airline is from 18 January 2016 starting a new cargo route from the southern Iranian city Lar, to Doha in Qatar. The route will as of now only run for a test period, and to be continued if it turns out to be successful. Foreign airlines such as Flydubai and Air Arabia already operate the airport, but this will be very first dedicated cargo service to a foreign destination.

Lar Airport recently inagurated a 2100 m² customs area with two new large storerooms and administration areas. During the last 9 months of the Iranian year (21 March – 21 December 2015) Lar Airport handled 2700 tonnes of cargo and 1482 flights. A 15% increase of passengers was also noted.
